About Omni Magic

Two magicians.

We don't perform tricks. We create experiences people remember. Magic, mentalism, hypnosis and storytelling, woven together into a cinematic live experience built around your guests, your story and your event.

How it started

A twelve-year-old who couldn't say a word.

I'm Johnny Wu, and I started Omni Magic. At twelve I was sent alone to Canada to go to school. I didn't speak English. The eighth graders picked on the quiet kid who couldn't answer back, and for a while I thought about quitting school.

Then a teacher played a David Copperfield video in class. The same kids who mocked me went silent. I had found a language that needed no words. I locked myself in my room for two months with a deck of cards, and when I came out I had something to say.

That is still the whole idea. I don't do card trick after card trick. I build one moment around the people in the room, and I protect it like a live TV special. Twenty years later that moment has played for 700 executives at Google HQ, on Netflix's Star Search, on a TEDx stage, for Bulgari, Nike and Amazon, and in a San Francisco ballroom where it helped raise $2,000,000 in ten minutes.

I founded Omni Magic in Los Angeles in 2017 for people who wanted more than a standard event act. The name is the promise. Omni means all of it: magic, mentalism, hypnosis, close-up, stage, virtual and comedy, customized to the room in front of us, whether that room is a kid's birthday, a bar mitzvah full of teens, a wedding, or a corporate stage.

As the bookings grew past what one performer could cover, I went looking for someone who could hold a room the way I do. That is how Dylan George became the other half of Omni Magic. Today the two of us cover more events, more rooms and more cities, with the same standard in both.

The people behind the show

He proposed with a flash mob.

Johnny asked Alicia to marry him in the middle of a flash mob he built around her, one of the moments he still gets asked about at shows. She said yes. The two of them are now raising Harmony and Anderson, and the next story is the one he tells on every booking page.

A little about me

The minute I will never forget

Alicia and I had Harmony first. She still runs the house. When Alicia was pregnant again, we wanted another girl. We said it out loud. We pictured the two of them in matching dresses. We had names picked.

Then came the reveal. Family in the driveway, balloons everywhere, the box opens, and it is blue. A boy. Alicia and I broke down crying in front of everyone. We were not crying because we were happy. We had spent months picturing one life, and in a single second it turned into a different one.

That boy is Anderson. He is the best thing that has ever happened to us, and I say that with Harmony standing right next to him. The thing we cried about in the driveway is the thing we cannot imagine living without.

I tell this story on a booking page for one reason. I know what a moment feels like when it matters: one minute, a crowd of people you love, and no second take. That driveway is why I treat your event like a live TV special. I design the one moment your guests will still talk about next year, then I protect it. I leave nothing to chance, because I know how long a single minute can last.

Questions planners ask

Before you book.

Who performs at my event, Johnny or Dylan?
Whoever you book by name. Many clients ask for Johnny or for Dylan after seeing one of them at another event. For large events we recommend both: two performers cover roughly twice the guests in the same window, and the stage show lands harder with a second pair of hands in the room.
Is it magic or mind reading?
Both, in one show. Sleight of hand up close at the tables, mind reading and mentalism on stage, and stage hypnosis when the room is right for it. The pieces are chosen for your guests, your room and your program, so no two shows are the same.
Do you travel?
We are based in Los Angeles and perform nationwide. Travel is quoted with the show so there are no surprises.
How far ahead should I book?
Two to four months is comfortable. November through December and May through June fill first, so for those months book as early as you can. If your date is close, ask anyway; holds run 48 hours as first right of refusal.
Are you insured?
Yes. Omni Magic carries liability insurance, and a certificate is available for your venue on request.
Can you build the show around our company or our story?
Yes, and that is the point. Corporate shows can carry your executives, products, messaging and theme. Weddings revolve around the couple. Private events can fold in personal stories and the guests who matter. It should feel made for that room, because it was.
